Chelsea ready to trigger Cuadrado's release clause

19 October 2014 - 06:08

Chelsea are in pole position to land the signature of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado in the January transfer window, The Express reports.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Cuadrado had an excellent spell with the Colombian national side at the World Cup finals, where they exited in the quarter final stage to hosts Brazil.

The talented winger had been heavily associated with a move to the Premier League over the summer, with United Louis van Gaal keen on acquiring his services.

However, Fiorentina rebuffed the offer insisting that it was below their valuation for Cuadrado.

According to The Express, Blues boss Mourinho is keen on firming the club's attacking options, and is open to matching the player's £32m release clause in the upcoming transfer window.

Chelsea are currently top of the Premier League with 22 points.
