West Ham United have reportedly joined London rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk in the winter transfer window.
The Dutch defender has been associated with a switch to the Emirates over the past month, with manager Arsene Wenger keen on strengthening his back-line at the start of the New Year.
However, a report from TalkSPORT claims that West Ham United are set to provide competition to Arsenal in the pursuit of the 23-year-old.
The report adds that the Hammers could guarantee regular first-team football to the talented centre-back, whilst he will only be considered as a back-up at the Gunners.
Celtis are open to the player's sale for a fee of around £7m.
