Liverpool will look at the prospect of making an offer to sign Arsenal target and Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to The Star.

The Portuguese international has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few months, with Arsenal considered front-runners to land his signature.

The Star claims that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add the highly-rated defensive midfielder to the club's ranks, as he seeks a long-term replacement for Legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard.

It is believed that Sporting would be willing to sell the 22-year-old, should any club offer a fee in the region of £30m.
