Arsenal to make opening offer for Sevilla star

Arsenal are reportedly set to make a bid in the region of £18m for the services of Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak in the winter transfer window.

The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen on signing up a holding midfielder this winter, with club-captain Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini failing to maintain form in the initial stages of the league campaign.

According to The Star, Wenger is a huge admirer of the Poland international, and is desperate to land his signature in the New Year.

The report adds that the North London outfit will make a tempting £18m offer for the 24-year-old with a view to securing his transfer to the Emirates in January.

Krychowiak joined Sevilla from French side Reims in the summer.
