Atletico Madrid to bid for Juan Mata

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid will reportedly make a January offer for Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, according to The Express.

The Spain international joined the Mancunian giants from Chelsea in January under former boss David Moyes.

Mata has failed to cement his place in the starting line-up this season, with Louis van Gaal favouring the likes of Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellain and Angel di Maria ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Express claims that Atletico are monitoring Mata's current status at United, and will make a bid of around £20m for his services in the winter transfer window.
