The 20-year-old was considered to be on the verge of joining Benfica, until the Citizens stepped in.

According to the report, the Premier League champions have submitted a bid of around €10m for the player's services ahead of the winter transfer window.

It is also understood that the Citizens will immediately loan out the talented youngster to Sampdoria such that he gets a chance to adapt to European football.

Correa has amassed 53 league appearances for his club so far.
