Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is considering a January move for Atletico defender Jose Gimenez, according to a report.

The talented defender has been a regular at the Basque outfit following an injury to Brazilian centre-back Miranda.

Recent reports have revealed that United's rivals City have had a bid rejected for the 19-year-old.

According to The Mail, United will make an offer of their own for the young defender ahead of the winter transfer window.



Gimenez has made six appearances for Atleti this season.
