The Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is a huge admirer of the Netherlands international, and is keen on having him onboard in the current transfer window.

The Star reports that United will make a bid of around £1.5m to seal a move for the Villans skipper.

Vlaar was part of Van Gaal's Dutch squad which reached the semi-finals of the World Cup held at Brazil over the summer.
