Manchester United are inching closer to sealing a deal for Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte, The Star reports.

The 20-year-old has played a key role in the club's progress this season, and is expected to earn a call-up to the French national side having impressed at youth level.

The Star claims that United have been in crunch talks with the La Liga outfit regarding the player's transfer, and the deal is "80 percent done".

It is believed that the Mancunian giants will have to pay a fee of around £25m to secure the player's services.

Arsenal have also been linked with the talented centre-back in recent months.
