The European champions have been associated with the Spanish shot-stopper for some time, with reports claiming that United could offload De Gea for £50m with star midfielder Gareth Bale acting as makeweight in the deal.

The Star claims that Los Blancos are preparing to pay out £50m for the Spain international, which could make him the most expensive goalkeeper ever in history.
