  • The Gunners have had their problems at the back this season, and Wenger is believed to be keen on solving the defensive crisis.

Wenger in a press conference revaled that the club are in talks over the potential arrival of Gabriel Paulista from Villareal this month.

"The talks are progressing quite well," Wenger told reporters. "I don't think there's a need to say much more. We are talking at the moment - can we find an agreement? I don't know. We are slowly progressing. There's a chance." He said.

"We are ready to pay the price for a good player. If we think it's the right price, we will pay."

Paulista has a £15m buyout clause in his current deal at Villareal.
