The Red Devils have been strongly associated with a move for the German star in recent months, but a bid is yet to be made.

According to German Sports daily Bild, the 26-year-old is open to a switch away from the Bundesliga giants, who have endured a horrible first-half to the season, and currently find themselves in the relegation places.

The report adds that United are ready to launch a £37.3m bid for the talented defender in order to boost their defensive setup.

United are currently third in the Premier League.
