Real plotting Chelsea raid

04 August 2007 - 15:52

Real Madrid are considering signing Michael Ballack and Arjen Robben in a double deal. The raid could be worth an estimated £30m to Chelsea. Last season, Michael Ballack didn't perform as well as expected, and Arjen Robben has recently announced he is unhappy with the wage offer on the table at Chelsea.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Arjen Robben had hoped his wages would be in line with John Terry, Frank Lampard and Andriy Shevchenko. Michael Ballack had a less than impressive first season in the Premiership and Chelsea could let him go while the price is right.

Recently, new Real coach Bernd Schuster had announced that he hoped to sign a player such as Michael Ballack; and this offer comes as a surprise, Robben has been the subject of interest from Real Madrid for a number of weeks and Real president Calderon has made no secret of his desire to bring Robben to the club.
