Martín Demichelis signs new Man City deal

Argentina international Martin Demichelis has signed a new deal to extend his stay at Manchester City until the summer of 2016.

The 34-year-old joined the Premier League champions from Atletico Madrid in 2013, and has since then formed an excellent partnership with Vincent Kompany in the central defence.

However, with the arrival of Eliaquim Mangala to the Etihad, there had been speculation that Demichelis could call quits on his City career at the end of the season.

According to BBC Sport, the former Bayern Munich star has signed a one-year extension to keep him at the club till the 2015/16 season.
