Preview: Liverpool vs Pompey

22 December 2007 - 10:59

Liverpool face the proposition of Portsmouth at Anfield on Saturday, with Liverpool desperate to turn around an embarassing run of form with defeats against Reading, Man Utd and Chelsea. Portsmouth have been one of the Premiership's most improved sides and are looking for three huge points today.

  • Juventus and Roma to battle for 20yo Arsenal star
  • Chelsea defender confirms decision to leave club

  • Suspensions and Injuries

Peter Crouch is suspended for three games as he was shown a red card for his lunge at Mikel.

Full-back Steve Finnan will be doubtful starter due to his nagging calf, while Daniel Agger is sidelined as he is recovering from a foot injury.

Portsmouth meanwhile have a good away form this season and are looking for their seventh consecutive away league win.

Defender Noe Pamarot will be on the sidelines with a hamstring injury while midfielder Sean Davis (ankle) too is a doubtful starter for tomorrow's encounter.

    Redknapp: we'll defend

"We are in the mood again but only time will tell whether we are good enough to bounce back.

"We'll go to win but we know we'll have to do a lot of defending.

"When teams have Liverpool's quality of player they force you back and you just have to make the most of your chances when they come along."

    LIVERPOOL 2-1 PORTSMOUTH

Liverpool will turn around their poor run of form starting today. Not the easiest of games for Liverpool, but Dirk Kuyt is a man who is scoring more goals recently and today will be another opportunity for him.

    Goalscorer: Dirk Kuyt
