Manchester United will look to securing the services of Lille defender Simon Kjaer, should they fail in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels this summer.
The Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal will look to bolster the club's back-line during the summer transfer window, having seen the defensive setup make basic mistakes in the big games.
According to The Express, United could seek a cheaper alternative in Kjaer, with Hummels yet to assess his options.
In addition to this, Lille could allow the sale of their star asset for a fee of around £11m in the summer.
United are fourth in the league standings.
