Carlos: Becks will be captain

Carlos: Becks will be captain

23 December 2007 - 08:33

Roberto Carlos believes that David Beckham will be England's new captain under Fabio Capello. Carlos believes that Capello dropped Becks on managerial orders, and recalled him later without their authority.

  • Inter Milan now want to sign Chelsea playmaker
  • Chelsea striker in advanced talks to join Burnley

  • Roberto Carlos said: "There were no bad feelings because he knew it wasn't Capello's fault. Now, I am sure that Capello will select Beckham for England - 100 percent sure. He will call David and I think he will make him his captain."

Carlos believes Capello will get England winning again - but has warned fans not to expect excitement.

"England need victories, results, and that he will give them," he said in The Observer.

"There will be no spectacle, it will be 1-0, 1-0, 1-0. But the team will be there, correctly set up and balanced on the pitch. And always winning.

"I don't know if England will win the World Cup in 2010, but they can make it to the finals. No doubt about that."
