Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the transfer window, according to reports.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Porto star Jackson Martinez since last summer.

It had been earlier claimed that the Colombian international had agreed personal terms with the North London giants.

Reports in Portugal now cite that the Gunners are ready to trigger the player's release clause which currently stands at £24.7m.

Martinez has scored 32 goals for Porto in all competitions this season.
