Manchester United seem to have won the race to sign one of their main summer targets, according to a report.
According to The Star, United boss Louis van Gaal had reignited his interest in the Brazilian international, having neglected a move for Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne.
It is added that Alves has agreed a three-year deal at Old Trafford, having failed to earn the same at the Catalan giants.
The talented full-back is expected to complete his free transfer once the transfer window reopens in July 1.
