No Bench Warming for Arsenal Flop

Pod wants regular first-team role at Arsenal

No Bench Warming for Arsenal Flop

15 June 2015 - 12:01

German striker Lukas Podolski has insisted that he will look for a new club this summer, should he be offered a bit-part role at Arsenal next season.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The talented forward failed to feature regularly in the first-team of the league campaign, and was shipped out on loan to Inter Milan in the New Year.

However, he suffered the same fate at the Nerazzurri and opted to reject a permanent contract for a return to the Emirates.

The German international has now revealed to Kicker that he would seek a fresh challenge, should he not be guaranteed a regular spot in the starting line-up.

"I can't make any claims," He told Kicker "I am under contract at Arsenal. I have not talked to Arsenal yet, but if I return I want to play. I won't sit on the bench or in the stands."

Podolski has one year left on his existing deal at the North London giants.
