Labelled by his boss Roberto Mancini as the 'best right back in the world', it appears that Maicon is interesting Premiership side Chelsea into a January transfer move. The Inter Milan defender is valued at around £17 million by the Italian side.
Maicon said of Mancini's comments:
"It is wonderful for me to hear these words from someone who has done so well in Serie A and knows it inside out," said Maicon. "I still have a lot to learn. I have put it into my head that I am strong and will try to prove that on the field to help the team achieve the best possible results."
However, this rumour could be just pure speculation as Maicon looks willing to extend his current contract with Inter from 2010 to 2013.
"To be at Inter for as long as possible is one of my wishes," he told Il Giornale. "If it was up to me, I would stay here for life."
