Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their interest to sign Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula.
The Belgian midfielder has been long linked with a switch to the Premier League, with London rivals Chelsea keen on his services.
However, sources in France cite that the Gunners have made contact with Imbula's father, regarding a potential switch to the Emirates in the upcoming transfer window.
Arsenal are understood to be keen on signing a top-class midfield enforcer, and consider Imbula to have the qualities to offer stiff competition to Francis Coquelin for the defensive midfield role.
Imbula has stated his desire to leave Marseille this summer, following their failure to attain Champions League football for next season.
