David de Gea has reportedly asked manager Louis van Gaal to let him go during the summer transfer window.
The Spain international has been tipped to make his dream move to Real Madrid this summer, but a fee has yet to be agreed between both clubs.
The transfer now looks less likely to happen with Los Blancos unwilling to match United's hefty asking price of £35m, for a player who in the final year of his contract.
According to The Mail, De Gea is said to have spoken with Van Gaal and requested to be allowed to make a switch to the Bernabeu in the summer.
