The talented marksman has been linked with a move to the Emirates since his Lyon days.

Benzema is not regarded as a fans' favourites at the Bernabeu, and the club's hierarchy are understood be pondering over the player's sale during the current transfer window.

The Gunners are now considered as front-runners to sign up the 27-year-old, should he be put up for sale.

Sky Bet odds have been slashed from 7/1 to 5/1 for Benzema to join the North London giants this summer.
