Newcastle United are understood to have reached an agreement to sign highly-rated Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba, according to reports.

The 20-year-old is understood to have huge potential, and has attracted interest from several European clubs in recent months.

According to The Mail, Magpies have agreed a £7.5m for the talented youngster, who was left out of his side's pre-season friendly against Lazio this evening.

The Tyneside outfit are also closing in on a deal for Mbemba's teammate Aleksandar Mitrovic.
