No breakage for Tevez

No breakage for Tevez

There's good news for Man Utd as it appears that Carlos Tevez has not broken his ankle but has bruised it. Tevez will miss the game against Aston Villa, but Man Utd will be thankful that he may return in time for the next Premiership game.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The 23-year-old Argentina international was forced off the pitch after 71 minutes and was then carried down the tunnel by two members of the backroom staff.

A United spokesman told the club website: "Nothing is broken, Carlos Tevez has just got a badly bruised right ankle."

United coach Alex Ferguson said after the Birmingham game that Tevez was a major concern for this weekend's FA Cup trip to Aston Villa.

"It was a bad tackle and the longer the game went on, the worse the injury got."

Ferguson said "In the end, we had to bring Carlos off. We will assess him to see what the damage is but he is doubtful for Saturday now.

On the plus side for United, Tevez' fellow striker Wayne Rooney is on track to face Martin O'Neill's side after recovering from a virus which kept him out for two matches.
