Lyon have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Rafael da Silva from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old struggled to make his way into the starting line-up with Louis van Gaal preferring Antonio Valencia ahead of him for the right-back role.

Rafael has now signed a four-year deal with the French side, after confirming his exit from Old Trafford via his twitter account earlier in the day.

The talented full-back made just 11 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions last season.
