Bayern want Mourinho

06 January 2008 - 23:36

Bayern Munich's president Franz Beckenbauer has hinted that the club may make a move for Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho after Ottmar Hitzfeld leaves the club.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • "Mourinho is among the candidates and I hope he would agree," the former World Cup winner told Di Welt.

Hitzfeld received an offer from the Swiss federation and confirmed that he is going to quit at the end of season.

Mourinho's spokesman Eliado Parames said that the Portuguese tactician hasn't any official offers on the table. "Bayern Munich: why not?"

The former Chelsea manager has already announced that he would be glad to coach a team like Bayern Munich.

Marcello Lippi, Marco Van Basten, Lotar Matthaus, Jurgen Klinsmann and Jurgen Klopp are also tipped for the job.
