The German international was understood to be closing in on a &pound14m deal to join the Old Lady, until Schalke deemed the offer to be below their valuation

Tuttosport now reveals that the Italian champions are ready to make an improved bid of around &pound20m to land the World Cup winner before the transfer deadline.

Draxler made just 10 appearances for Schalke last term, as he was recuperating from a thigh injury.
