Liverpool will reportedly step up their pursuit for Asier Illarramendi, after Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez told the midfielder to seek a new challenge.
The Spanish midfielder has struggled for a regular starting place since his move from Real Sociedad in 2013.
Spanish publication Marca cites that the midfield enforcer has no future at the Bernabeu following the arrival of Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan recently.
It is added that the Reds are prepared to make an offer of around £15m for the 25-year-old in the coming days.
