Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe, according to reports.
The Wolves had recently rejected a bid from Norwich City for the 22-year-old striker.
According to Express & Star, the Magpies are ready to firm their interest in the former Arsenal man, after they pulled out of a deal for top target Charlie Austin due to Queens Park Rangers' lofty asking price.
Afobe scored 32 goals for his club last term which was the the highest tally in the football league.
