Boruc gets huge new deal

Boruc gets huge new deal

08 January 2008 - 01:06

Celtic have given Polish goalkeeper the largest contract handed out to anyone since Swedish striker Henrik Larsson was at the club. Boruc has signed a new deal with the club worth around £30,000 a week.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • "I am so happy to have signed the new contract because Celtic have been good for me," said Boruc last night.

"I never really wanted to leave. It was not my hope to play elsewhere at the moment and I would not have wanted to leave Glasgow under these circumstances.

"The negotiations over my new deal were long and difficult so everyone is happy that we have managed to reach agreement.

"I know I am valued by Celtic and I was never in contact with any other club. Maybe they were in touch with Celtic, but nobody contacted me."

Boruc had been linked with Arsenal for some time, but it seems that Celtic have fended off the interest in the Pole.
