Chelsea eye move for new right-back

Chelsea want Ivanovic replacement

Chelsea eye move for new right-back

18 September 2015 - 18:25

Chelsea will seek to bring in a new right-back in the next transfer window, The Mail reports.

  • Chelsea quoted price to sign Igor Thiago
  • Chelsea make Joao Pedro transfer decision

  • Serbian international Branislav Ivanovic has been a regular in the starting line-up since his move to the club in 2008.

However, his performances have been criticized by the club's faithful in recent weeks and this had forced manager Jose Mourinho to drop him from the club's Champions League encounter against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday night.

According to The Mail, the club will look for a new right-sided defender in the New Year, with Mourinho keen on keeping Cesar Azpilicueta in his make-shift left-back role.

It is also thought that Mourinho is not willing to play Azpilicueta in his original right-back position, as summer signing Baba Rahman has yet to adapt to the pace of the game.

Chelsea host local rivals Arsenal in the Premier League tomorrow.
