Daniele Rugani to sign for Arsenal in January?

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani has been linked with a surprise transfer move to Arsenal in the January transfer window. The Gunners' manager Arsene Wenger has been left weighing up his defensive options after a disappointing start to the new campaign.

The 21-year-old has just under three years reamining on his deal at the Turin side and has indicated that he would like to make a move abroad if an opportunity presents itself.

Arsenal have been monitoring Rugani for some time and are very impressed with the youngster's speed and ability in the air. Wenger sees Rugani as a long term replacement for German World Cup winning centre back Per Mertesacker.

The Gunners will have to fork out a minimum of 7.5 million euros for the defender though, who has also been linked with a move to Germany. Borussia Dortmund are amongst the teams also tracking the defender.
