Chelsea have reportedly received a dent in their transfer proceedings after Palermo agreed on a deal to sign Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri.

  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The 22-year-old has been often dubbed the 'new Gonzalo Higuain' for his style of play.

Calleri was rumoured to be on his way to Stamford Bridge following reports that he had submitted a passport application.

However, FoxSports Brasil has learned that the talented marksman has finalized terms with Italian side Palermo, and the move will go through once the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The Argentine forward will now get his chance to impress in the Serie A following a successful spell with his boyhood club.

Palermo are expected to pay a fee of around £8.5m plus add-ons for the player.
