Colombian international Radamel Falcao has been tipped to return to parent club AS Monaco in the winter transfer window.
The 29-year-old had a forgettable loan spell at Manchester United last season, and this led to claims that he may never return to the Premier League.
However, former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho backed Falcao and gave him the chance to impress in a temporary deal at Stamford Bridge this term.
Falcao has since then struggled to make any kind of impact for the Premier League holders, and he is now spending his time in the treatment room.
French outlet L'Equipe now reveals that Falcao is likely to terminate his loan contract, and spend the second half of the season in Ligue 1.
The report adds that the former Atleti star may then seek to pursue a career in the MLS.
Falcao has scored a solitary goal for the Blues this campaign.
