Tottenham Hotspur centre-back could be heading for an early return to Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart this month.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • Stuttgart boss Jürgen Kramny is understood to be keen on strengthening his squad for the relegation battle ahead and according to several reports, out-of-favour Kevin Wimmer is the primary target.

The 23-year-old only joined Tottenham last summer after making a reported €7m switch from German side FC Köln, but the young defender has found regular football hard to come by.

The Austrian international defender has struggled to break into Mauricio Pochettino squad, as the Belgian duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are doing an impressive work at the back for Spurs this season.

Wimmer, who has featured only twice for his home country, is not the only option, as the German side are also keeping a keen eye on unsettled Chelsea centre-half Papy Djilobodji, who joined the Premier League earlier this season.

Stuttgart have been in disappointing form this season, and find themselves in 15th place after 17 league games.
