Recent speculation had claimed that the Blues may seek to rush through a move for Pato following a shin injury to first choice striker Diego Costa.
According to ESPN Brasil, the Premier League holders have finalized an agreement with Corinthians officials, and a transfer could go through in the coming days.
The Blues are expected to sign the striker on an initial loan deal.
Pato netted 26 goals in 56 appearances for Sao Paolo last year.
