The England international had been the subject of multiple bids from the Blues over the summer, but the Toffees were not keen on his sale.

Since then, the 21-year-old has had a solid showing in a Toffees shirt, and this has led to claims that he may move on at the end of the season.

According to The Mirror, the Citizens are deemed front-runners to sign the talented centre-back in the next transfer window. It is added that league rivals Chelsea are no longer keen on pursuing a deal for the player.

Stones joined the Toffees from Barnsley for just £3m in 2013.
