Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc is the latest candidate to be linked with the managerial post at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been tipped to bring in a new head coach in the summer following the club's struggles in the Premier League this term.
Jose Mourinho has been strongly linked with the United role in recent weeks, but according to The Star, the club's hierarchy prefer the option of having Blanc over the 'Special One' next season.
The report adds that the club could make a formal approach for the 50-year-old after they finalize their situation at the end of the season.
Blanc made 75 appearances for the Red Devils during his final seasons in professional football.
United are currently sixth in the Premier League, three points adrift of the Champions League places.
