Will Arsenal sign Yaya Toure?

Arsenal urged to sign Yaya Toure

16 March 2016 - 19:33

Arsenal should make a summer swoop for Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, according to former boss Stuart Pearce.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Bournemouth star
  • Atletico Madrid planning shock move for Chelsea star
  • The Ivory Coast international has been tipped to leave the Mancunian giants this summer with incoming manager Pep Guardiola likely to place him in the transfer market.

Pearce, who managed the Citizens between 2001 and 2002, feels that the experienced midfielder could have a similar impact to that of Petr Cech, should he make the move to the Emirates.

"On his day Yaya Toure is outstanding," the 53-year-old told talkSPORT.

"Petr Cech has proved a fantastic success this year at Arsenal, and to have a player like Toure at the centre of midfield, as that holding type of player, I think he'd give one or two of the youngsters a bit of a lift. I think he'd be a good signing for them."

Toure's existing deal at City is due to expire at the end of next season.
