The Bernabeu giants are expected to bring in a couple of recruits during the off-season following their struggles to keep up with Barcelona in the Spanish league.

France international Paul Pogba is said to be the club's prime target, but Juventus' &pound62m valuation could become a major stumble in their pursuit, Spanish source Fichajes claims.

It is added that Los Blancos have already identified an alternative in Herrera, who is considering his future at Old Trafford.

Herrera, 26, is expected to seek a fresh challenge should United fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.
