Benteke to stay put at Liverpool

Benteke content at Liverpool

Belgian international Christian Benteke has no desire to leave Liverpool despite his lack of playing time this season.

  • Chelsea fail to agree terms for Victor Osimhen
  • Chelsea favourites to sign Michael Olise ahead of Man Utd

  • The 25-year-old joined the Reds from Aston Villa last summer and many expected him to make a mark at the Merseyside outfit.

However, he has struggled to adapt to the Reds' style of play and currently finds himself playing a regular role from the substitutes' bench.

It had been recently suggested that the player could seek a fresh challenge away from Anfield, but Benteke has himself rebuffed the claims revealing his delight at playing for the club.

"Obviously it has not been the best season for me here," he is quoted as saying in the club's matchday programme."I haven't played like I want to and that is frustrating but this is part of football.

"Even though things have not been as I wanted I'm really happy here. Playing for this club is exciting, just like what I thought it would be. Now I want to finish this season well."

Benteke is currently behind the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi in the pecking order for the centre-forward role.
