Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez has emerged a surprise transfer target for Barcelona. The Catalan giants are eager to bring in a new attacker to supplement their ever-growing side.
Perez, 22, has been a key performer for the Magpies since his switch from Spanish minnows Tenerife in 2014.
According to The Mirror, Barca scouts have had a close watch on the Spaniard through the current league campaign.
It is added that the La Liga outfit could come up with a formal approach for Perez as they regard him as a potential understudy to their star studded trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.
The talented forward has five years left on his existing deal at Tyneside.
