Man Utd to move for Varane

Manchester United are ready to step up their interest for Real Madrid's French defender Raphael Varane. The young centre-back is said to be frustrated after he was left on the bench for his side's Champions League semi-final legs against Manchester City.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Varane, 21, had played a regular role alongside either Pepe or Sergio Ramos during the group stages of the elite competition.

However, as the club progressed to the knock-outs, manager Zinedine Zidane decided to go with the experience of Pepe and Ramos, and this has infuriated the player.

French sources suggest that the United will make an approach for the France international, who is almost certain to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

It is added that Mancunian giants are likely to boost their backline irrespective of who is incharge of the club next season.

United are currently fifth in the league standings, four points off the Champions League places with a game in hand.
