Arsenal look set to secure the services of Granit Xhaka this month after they finalized a transfer fee with Borussia Monchengladbach. The Swiss international has been on the Gunners radar since the start of the year.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Recent speculation claimed that the Gunners could stall on their bid to sign the midfielder with Gladbach reluctant to come down on their &pound35m asking price.

However, according to BBC Sport, the North London giants have managed to negotiate a &pound30m sum, and the player has flown to the English capital to finalize terms and undergo a medical scheduled on Saturday.

Xhaka will add a much needed boost to the Gunners' midfield which has been depleted by the departures of Mikel Arteta, and Tomas Rosicky.

The 23-year-old amassed over 130 appearances during his time at Gladbach.
