25 May 2016 - 12:14

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made a formal announcement on the arrival of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for an undisclosed fee. The Swiss international will link up with his new teammates once he returns from this summer's European championships.

  • Chelsea want to sign Alejandro Garnacho for £30m?
  • Chelsea agree deal to sign wonderkid for €40m

  • The 23-year-old was seen donning the Gunners shirt in a couple of leaked images over the weekend thus giving a clear indication on his future move.

Wenger has now confirmed that the Swiss midfielder has penned a long-term deal with the Gunners for a fee reported of around £30m.

"Granit Xhaka is an exciting young player, already with good Champions League and Bundesliga experience." the Frenchman told the club's official website.

"We have been watching him for a long time now and he is a player who will add quality to our squad. We wish Granit a good Euro 2016 with Switzerland and look forward to welcoming him to Arsenal ahead of next season."

Xhaka racked 132 appearances during his four-year spell with Gladbach.
