Balotelli to return to Liverpool

Balotelli fails to earn permanent Milan contract

Balotelli to return to Liverpool

26 May 2016 - 14:34

Italy international Mario Balotelli will be heading back to Liverpool after AC Milan neglected the chance to retain his services. The 25-year-old joined the Rossoneri on loan last summer after he fell out-of-favour at the Reds.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • He followed to have poor run netting just once in 20 appearances for the San Siro outfit, who finished 23 points off the Champions League places.

Balotelli is now expected to rejoin the Reds after Milan confirmed that they would not acquire his signature for the 2016/17 season.

"There will be several departures as the likes of Alex, Mexes, Boateng and Balotelli all have deals that will expire," president Silvio Berlusconi said.

Nevertheless, the Italian's stay is likely to be shortlived this time with manager Jurgen Klopp likely to cash in on his services over the summer.
