Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has identified Jonas Hector as a prime target this summer as he rebuilds the Anfield club and the Reds have bid £12 million for the German left back who has made 34 appearances for Die Geißböcke this season.
However, Cologne sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has rejected this bid and has gone on record saying that the German club value Hector at double the initial Liverpool offer and has publicly said he thinks Hector will be at the Cologne club next season.
The German international defender's current contract with the Bundesliga outfit is due to expire in the summer of 2018, perhaps Cologne may want to cash on him if Liverpool increase their offer but may wait as the Saarbrücken born defender is with the German team at Euro 2016 and if he plays well they may be able to initiate a bidding war with other European clubs.
