Manchester United are in pole position to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. The France international is weighing up his options after he played back-up to Pepe and Sergio Ramos for the centre-back role last term.
The 23-year-old has expressed his frustrations at the Bernabeu outfit following his omission from the starting line-up in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Spanish publication Marca says the Frenchman is likely to be on the move this summer despite being guaranteed a regular start under Zinedine Zidane next season.
It is added that United are heading the queue for Varane's signature with manager Jose Mourinho having a good relationship with the player, whom he brought from Lens in his spell at Real.
Varane is currently valued at around £30m.
